Therapy Near Oak Hill

If home is around Oak Hill, near where 290 and 71 split, my office is on Southwest Parkway rather than in Oak Hill itself. You can meet me there on Fridays, go outdoors on a walk-and-talk session, or connect by telehealth from home.

Where we would meet

To be clear about the map: my office is at 5900 Southwest Pkwy, Building 5, Suite 230, in Southwest Austin. It is not in Oak Hill, and it is the only office I have. In-person sessions are on Fridays, and some select other times and days as schedules allow. Friday appointments fill first. On other weeks, a walk-and-talk session takes the work outdoors on a quiet route, or telehealth lets you meet by secure video from home. You can mix them as your weeks change shape.

For moms, from pregnancy through the early years

Pregnancy and motherhood can bring things nobody warned you about, and some of them are hard to say out loud. As a mom myself, I know something of what it takes to care for yourself while you are carrying everyone else. You do not have to have it figured out, or even named, before you reach out. Telehealth means a session can happen from home, and therapy for postpartum anxiety and mom guilt explains more. This part of the work can include:

  • Pregnancy and miscarriage
  • A traumatic labor
  • Postpartum anxiety or rage
  • Intrusive thoughts after birth that frighten you
  • Mom guilt and the mental load
  • An identity that has shifted under your feet

Parenting tension and family patterns

When the same argument keeps starting over homework, screens or curfew, it may not really be about homework, screens or curfew. As a marriage and family therapist, I look at the whole system around a problem: who gets caught in the middle, what each person needs, and where the pattern began. For parenting, I draw on the Incredible Years approach. Family therapy sessions are 80 minutes and $275. Couples therapy is $215 for 50 minutes or $300 for 80 minutes and happens in the office or by telehealth; walk-and-talk is not suitable for couples counseling.

When a family needs more room than a weekly session allows, family therapy intensives offer 4 hours for $800 or 6 hours, with a 30 to 60 minute lunch break, for $1,250. That longer stretch makes room to slow a pattern down, understand it and practice a different way forward together. Who attends, and whether weekly family sessions would serve you better, is something we work out on the free consultation.

Grief, loss and life changing shape

Grief does not arrive in tidy stages, and it rarely arrives in order. Losing a loved one, becoming a widow, a loneliness that other people do not seem to notice: all of it deserves room. If your language for loss includes asking God why, that question is welcome here; if it does not, nothing about faith will be assumed. Life transitions can unsettle you more quietly, whether it is a move, a new baby, a divorce or a career change, and difficulty adjusting is not a personal failure. The aim is to find life again on the other side, at a pace you can bear. There is more on grief therapy and therapy for life transitions if you want to read further.

Therapy in Spanish

Sessions are available in English and Spanish, both at the office and by telehealth. If Spanish is the language your family speaks at home, or simply the one in which you feel things most clearly, we can work in it from the first session. Grief, parenting and the weight of becoming a mother can all sound different in the language you grew up with. The page on terapia en español is written in Spanish, with the details on fees, formats and the free consultation.

Acceptance, hope and healing, at your pace

Acceptance. Hope. Healing. Those three words describe the process I hope we can walk through together. It starts with feeling safe and accepted as you are, without a lecture. Hope is about letting some light into the places that have felt dark. Healing is the slower work that follows, at a pace you can stay with. The first few sessions cover your history, your context and what you want to be different, with no requirement to go into the worst details early. When you are ready, the free consultation is a 15-minute phone call, and the rates page lists every fee up front.
