What I Work On Most

Betrayal trauma is the work I take on most deliberately, alongside perfectionism, divorce care, binge eating and anxiety. Trauma is the thread running under all of it.

What Feels Closest?

Start with your experience, not a diagnosis

Choose a concern for a private, immediate starting point. Nothing is saved.

A Place to Begin

Betrayal Trauma

When trust has been broken, steadiness comes before big decisions. There is room here for the checking, anger, grief, and uncertainty.

Core Focus Areas

Care shaped around what you are carrying

Each path is personal. Open any card to see a few experiences that may feel familiar.

Eating Disorders and Body Image

Binge eating is rarely about willpower and often about relief. I work from the Intuitive Eating Model: no moralizing about food, no disguised pursuit of thinness, and no new set of rules to fail. The aim is to rebuild trust and make peace with food and your body.

This May Feel Familiar
  • Eating past fullness in private, then the shame afterward
  • Cycles of restriction followed by a binge
  • The mirror setting the tone for your whole day

Trauma and Anxiety

Family of origin, sexual, relational, violence, veterans, death. Panic disorder, social.

Anxiety is an alarm system doing its job too well. We work on both ends: the physiology, so your body can come down from high alert, and the thinking, so the catastrophic forecast loses some of its authority. Practical, repeatable, and something you keep after therapy ends.

This May Feel Familiar
  • A mind that runs ahead to every worst case
  • Physical symptoms with no medical explanation
  • Avoiding things that used to be ordinary

Betrayal and Divorce Care

Discovering an affair, hidden spending, or a long-running secret does something specific to the nervous system: it turns the person you relied on into the source of the danger. We slow down the checking, the replaying and the sleeplessness first, then work on what you want to decide, whether that is repair or a clear-eyed exit.

This May Feel Familiar
  • Looping thoughts and searching for more evidence
  • Feeling foolish for having trusted
  • Body responses you cannot talk yourself out of
  • Grieving a marriage you also needed to leave
  • Co-parenting with someone who still activates you
  • Rebuilding an identity that was shared for years

Religious Questioning and Hurt

Faith can be questioned, pose your "why God?" doubts, healing from anger/hurt with themes like releasing to God, forgiveness, or reconciliation

Perfectionism and Performance Based Self Worth

From the outside it can look like discipline or high performance. From the inside it is a standard that moves every time you reach it. Present over Perfect means protecting what you value about drive while loosening low self-esteem and the fear that you are only as worthy as your last result.

This May Feel Familiar
  • Relief that lasts about ten minutes after a win
  • Delegating feels riskier than doing it all yourself
  • Rest requires an excuse

How the Trauma Work Is Done

Trauma-Focused CBT, explained by Wendy

Trauma and PTSD are the primary specialty here. This is the method behind that, described in five minutes rather than in clinical shorthand.

Broader Trauma Work

Trauma rarely stays in the lane we assign it

PTSD is my primary specialty, and it shows up wearing a lot of different clothes: as anger, as numbness, as a drink every night, as never being able to sit still. These are the other concerns I regularly see, most of them tangled up with the same root.

  • Complex trauma, PTSD, intrusive thoughts, self-harm, and suicidal ideation
  • Veterans, first responders, athletes, and high performance
  • Relationship and marriage difficulties
  • Postpartum adjustment, postpartum anxiety, and mom guilt
  • Partners and children of addicts
  • Children and spouses of narcissists
  • Grief and loss, including widowhood
  • Social anxiety, low self-esteem, stress, and burnout
  • Church hurt, church or cult trauma, and questions of faith
  • Christian and biblical counseling when requested
  • Teens facing pressure, anxiety and withdrawal
  • Parenting support and family transitions
